After-hours observation windows in Australian time zones
National applications mean evening users in Perth and early shift workers in Brisbane. Scheduling has to respect both.
Why daytime-only samples fail
If your application serves shift workers, a 10:00 Sydney observation calendar will miss them. Application analytics may already show evening peaks; ignore that pattern and your sessions will flattering your nine-to-five assumptions.
Practical windows we use
- Two evening slots per study week for west-coast participants
- One early morning slot when Brisbane logistics staff are free
- Midday slots for office-based roles
Facilitators rotate; no single person should own every late session.
Recording ethics
After-hours does not mean casual consent. The same consent script applies. Tired participants deserve the right to stop without pressure to “just finish the last task.”
