About the practice

Learn how Connect Vertex Base grew from Sydney product research roots into a practice focused on application analytics and user behaviour tracking.

Origin

Connect Vertex Base began as a small observation desk supporting product teams in Sydney who were drowning in charts they did not trust. The founders had spent years watching people struggle through forms, claims portals, and account settings — then watching those same teams argue about which funnel step was “broken.” The practice exists to separate what people do from what the spreadsheet claims they do.

How we work

We favour paper notes, timed sessions, and plain briefings over slide decks full of abstract maturity language. Application analytics matter here as a primary source, not as decoration. User behaviour tracking is treated as a craft: naming events carefully, respecting consent, and admitting when the sample is too thin to decide.

People

Consultants on client work have backgrounds in product research, support operations, and editorial clarity. We hire for the ability to sit quietly through a confusing session and write what happened without polishing away the awkward moments.

Values

  • Evidence over preference. A loud stakeholder opinion does not outweigh three repeated recovery paths.
  • Consent first. Observation requires informed participants; we will not invent covert watching methods.
  • Local accountability. Work is booked through the Sydney office at Level 8, 24 George Street, with clear named leads on every engagement.

Australia context

Most of our clients are Australian organisations with applications used nationally. We understand the cadence of financial-year planning, the weight of support queues after public holidays, and the practical limits of recruiting participants outside capital cities. Remote facilitation is common; studio days in Sydney remain available for teams who prefer a shared room.
